Background Story
Danielle’s passion for counseling began at a very young age (as cliché as this sounds, it’s true!). She began by helping serve the hungry, the hurting, and the recovering. From ages 15-17, you could find Danielle at a local shelter, hospital, after school program or on the softball field. At 17, she served as a Peer Mentor at her high school, helping others with organizational skills, lending an open ear and transitioning as incoming Freshman. It was not long before it became clear how much she loved supporting others develop, grow and reach their goals.
Danielle went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. She was awarded many academic and athletic acheivements during her four years at Fitchburg State College. While working toward earning her degree she was employed at Cohannet Academy, an Intensive Residential Treatment Program working with adolescent females ages 12-18. This position included supporting a variety of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm and eating disorders. It was in this position that she developed an interest in Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This therapy includes the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness to increase cognitive and emotional regulation. Danielle continued to learn more about the mental health field and found herself wanting to exploring further.
The next two years were spent obtaining her Masters Degree of Social Work at Bridgewater State College. She furthered her position at Cohannet because she was now allowed to practice her clinical skills with such a challenging population. Her second year internship was in a Brockton elementary school as a School Adjustment Counselor. She contributed to the anti-bullying campaign held at the school as well as developed behavioral management programs and social skills groups. Danielle was also granted the opportunity to work with all of the BSC student-athletes during these two years. She would help the student-athletes with managing the stressors of performing and excelling athletically and academically.
During the last 5+ years, she has worked at Community Counseling of Bristol County in Taunton as an In-Home Therapist. She continues to work with families who are struggling with a variety of issues that expand over a spectrum of challenges. Some of the support she provides ranges from decreasing intense conflict, trauma, depression as well as day-to-day challenges families are confronted with. Her position has grown into providing clinical support as a Clinical Supervisor and managing all incoming referrals for two programs.
